Two orchestras, One pianist and a Big Bad Wolf

Jesselton Philharmonic Orchestra, in collaboration with the renowned Musica Sinfonietta from Penang, to present an enthralling evening of music performance - “Peter and the Wolf”. Led by Conductor Mr Yap Ling, the combined orchestras will comprise of more than 60 musicians. A perfect family activity for the School Holiday.

“Peter and the Wolf” is a 5 days music camp in Penang starting from 22nd November 2012 and with 1st auditorium performance on 26th November 2012 in Penang and 2nd performance will be in Kota Kinabalu on Wednesday 28th November 2012. Music Camp participants shall benefit a great opportunity to be tutored by experienced musicians and work under the baton of Mr.Yap Ling.

A notable accolade - Musica Sinfonietta is the 1st Malaysian Group and one of the 6 recipients around the world to have been awarded a grant of £2,000 from the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music’s (ABRSM) International Sponsorship Fund.

“We recognise that much worthwhile activity takes place on a local basis and that ABRSM can play an active role in furthering this,’ said Guy Perricone, ABRSM’s Chief Executive. ‘Our International Sponsorship fund is intended to give support to musicians outside the UK and Ireland and is a fantastic opportunity for ABRSM to engage with the music community in Malaysia.”

In addition to Prokofiev’s “Peter and the Wolf”, this evening programme includes  Haydn’s “Toy Symphony” and a special enchanting performance of Chopin's 2nd Piano Concerto by renowened Malaysian Pianist Mr Loo Bang Hean.
