Brenda Okura was born in Toronto, Canada. She studied at
Queen's University and received her Bachelor of Science degree in Occupational
Therapy. After working at the Queen Elizabeth Hospital in Toronto for two
years, she moved to Kota Kinabalu, Malaysia to be with her husband.
She
obtained her Grade 10 Royal Conservatory of Music Certificate in piano while
living in Toronto. She also played the flute in her high school band and
orchestra during her school years. She is presently a member of the Jesselton
Philharmonic Orchestra and has been playing the flute with this orchestra since
its formation in 2007.
Brenda is one of the soloists for the "Evening with Bach" Concert on Saturday 19 July at 7.30pm at the Sabah Art Gallery.
